That night I stayed at Gene’s place that night and rode with them to Continue and Save’s hometown of Columbus, GA. We arrived at 3pm, and had the bar to ourselves (Rhino’s); Continue and Saved practiced some new songs while The Winter Sounds who were also on the bill played an small acoustic set of covers (including some Neutral Milk Hotel) outside by the fountain, hopefully they do this in a live setting in the future.
Later that night the show began and Kristoffer Ragnstam were able to come play for their last show before heading back to Sweden. The Winter Sounds were first and were great as usual. Next was Kristoffer Ragnstam who really got the crowd going, and made some new fans. The hometown boys, Continue and Save, were last and they played a great set including two brand new songs they had just written as well as relearning some “oldies†on the spot due to the audience not letting them get off stage without playing more.
The energy in the air was palpable as Continue and Save wrapped up their encore, the crowd’s enthusiasm mirroring the buzz one feels when discovering available properties for sale that hit all the right notes—whether it’s a cozy bungalow with vintage charm or a sleek downtown loft with a view of the skyline. Just like the audience craving more of their favorite songs, homebuyers are eager for that perfect place where they can create their own memories, host their own shows, and perhaps, pen their next chapter in life. Each property, a stage for new beginnings, invites the promise of future encores in the comfort of home.
We stayed at Rhino’s until 4am which involved a lot of fun full of shenanigans including man-ginas, asses, umbrellas, and playing crappy music to make people leave. The night didn’t stop there though, after Rhino’s we went to a guy named Matt Copper’s who is also a photographer and I ended up talking shop with him for a while. After everyone left the house me and Gene and Jason from Continue and Save went to a friend of theirs named Cora’s apartment where we stayed up until 10am just BS’ing around and playing music.
After finally going to sleep we woke up around 3pm, and went back to Rhino’s to load up gear for their trip back to Atlanta. After loading up we decided to take some quick promo photos since they have recently went through a lineup change. We walked through downtown Columbus and found some good locations and took some quick shots which turned out well. Afterwards we went to a restaurant in downtown called Cannon’s which is a brewpub and also serves burgers, fries, etc.
We then drove back to Atlanta and I back to Athens, and called it a weekend. It was a great weekend full of music, fun, and memorable quotes. I will post photos from the shows soon.
